A fantastic day on the reserve produced an Egyptian Goose on the Bunded Pools (See photo below) and a Marsh harrier which drifted over the Helipad marsh, the Ash pool, over Oakenholt marsh then over to Gayton sands.
Also on the reserve 3 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank a Male Merlin and a Peregrine. Oakenholt marsh had a high count of 550 Lapwing, 200+ Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 200+ Dunlin, 50 Knot and plenty of Redshank, Curlew and Starling.
From the West Hide looking over the river a Ringtail Hen Harrier was seen and a Female Merlin sitting in a tree on the far bank.
Egyptian Goose, this un-ringed bird stayed on the pool by the East hide for about 30 mins, feeding and preening then disappearing as mysteriously as it arrived.
